Okay, so I ran into this weird issue with my Meta Quest 2 the other day, and I figured I’d share how I got it sorted, just in case anyone else bumps into the same problem.
The Problem Started Out of Nowhere
I was all set for a gaming session, put on my headset, and instead of the usual home screen, I just saw this horizontal bar, like a loading bar, but it wasn’t moving. Just stuck there. My first thought was, “Oh great, what now?”
First Instinct: Reboot Everything
Naturally, my first move was to try turning the headset off and on again. You know, the classic tech support trick. Held down the power button, waited for it to shut down completely, and then powered it back up. Nope, still just the bar.
Digging a Little Deeper
Next, I thought maybe it was a connection issue. I checked the cable to make sure it was plugged in tight. Everything looked good there, so that wasn’t it.
Trying a Factory Reset (A Bit Scared!)
This was the part I was dreading a bit, because, you know, who wants to lose all their settings and stuff? But I was running out of options. I looked up how to do a factory reset on the Quest 2 (it involves holding down the power and volume buttons, if you’re curious), and went for it.
Important: You will need to hold the “Power and Volume Down” buttons simultaneously for a while before the boot menu appears.

After the factory reset, the headset started up like it was brand new. I had to go through the initial setup again, connect to Wi-Fi, log in to my account, all that jazz.

It took a little while, but eventually… success! The home screen appeared, good as new.
Finally Fix it!
I’m still not 100% sure what caused the bar to show up in the first place. Maybe a software glitch? Who knows. But at least the factory reset did the trick. So, if you ever find yourself staring at a mysterious bar on your Quest 2 screen, don’t panic! A factory reset might just be the fix you need. Just remember to be patient during the reset and setup process – it takes a bit of time.
