So, I’ve been needing a new case for my 13-inch MacBook Pro, the 2017 model. The old one was, well, let’s just say it had seen better days. It was one of those cheap plastic ones, and it was cracked and chipped all over. Time for an upgrade, right?
First thing I did was hop online and start looking at what was out there. Browsed around, checked out a few different brands, you know, the usual. There are a ton of options, from super minimalist to those crazy rugged ones that look like they could survive a drop from a skyscraper. I wanted something in between – stylish but also protective.
After a couple of hours going through the reviews and pictures, I narrowed it down to a few choices. I was mostly looking at those hard-shell cases, the ones that snap onto the top and bottom of the laptop. They seemed like the best balance of protection and not adding too much bulk. Plus, some of them come in some pretty cool colors and patterns.
- Considered a few different materials. There were the usual plastic ones, but also some made from leather or even wood.
- Thought about going for a clear case to show off the Apple logo, but those tend to yellow over time, and I didn’t want to deal with that.
- Finally decided on a hard-shell case with a matte finish. Seemed like a good compromise between looks and practicality.
I finally pulled the trigger on one that looked pretty good. It was a nice, dark blue color, which I figured would hide scratches and fingerprints better than a lighter color. It arrived a few days later, and I popped it on my MacBook right away.
It fit perfectly, which was a relief. Sometimes these things can be a little off, you know? But this one snapped into place without any issues. It felt solid, too, not flimsy at all. And the matte finish was exactly what I was hoping for – smooth but not slippery.
The Result
So far, so good. My MacBook feels a lot more protected now, and I’m not constantly worried about scratching it or dropping it. Plus, it looks pretty sharp, if I do say so myself. Definitely an upgrade from the old cracked case. It’s the little things, right? Anyway, just wanted to share my little MacBook case adventure. Maybe it’ll help someone else out there who’s in the market for one.
