Okay, so I finally got my hands on that “Chill” smartwatch everyone’s been talking about. I’d been looking for a decent, not-too-expensive smartwatch for a while, and this one kept popping up. Figured I’d give it a shot and document the whole process, ’cause why not?
Unboxing and First Impressions
First thing, the box was pretty basic. Nothing fancy, just the watch, a charging cable (magnetic, thank goodness), and a tiny little instruction booklet. The watch itself felt… okay. It’s mostly plastic, but it doesn’t feel super cheap, you know? It’s light, which is good, I guess. I got the black one, ’cause I’m boring like that.
Setting it Up
This part was a little annoying, to be honest. I had to download some random app, which I’m always a bit hesitant about. Then, pairing it with my phone took a couple of tries. It kept disconnecting. I had to restart the watch and my phone before it finally worked. Classic.
- Download the App
- Turn on the watch.
- Turn Bluetooth on.
- Pair it up. It takes a little time.
Playing Around with Features
Once it was all connected, I started messing around with the features. It’s got the usual stuff: step tracking, heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking. The step tracking seemed… optimistic. Like, I walked to the fridge and it added like 50 steps. I don’t think my kitchen is that big.
The heart rate monitor seemed মোটামুটি accurate, at least compared to when I manually checked my pulse. I haven’t really tested the sleep tracking yet, ’cause I just got it today. I’ll update on that later.
There are also some basic notification things. I could see texts and calls coming in, but replying was a no-go. You can only read them, which, whatever, I mostly use my phone for that anyway.
The “Chill” Factor (or Lack Thereof)
Honestly, I don’t get the name. It’s just a basic smartwatch. There’s nothing particularly “chill” about it. Maybe it’s the simple design? I don’t know. Marketing, I guess.
Initial Verdict
So, after a few hours of use, would I recommend the Chill smartwatch?
It depends. If you want a super basic, no-frills smartwatch for cheap, this might be it. Don’t expect anything amazing. It’s functional, it tells the time, and it tracks some basic fitness stuff. But it’s definitely not blowing my mind.
I’ll keep using it for a few weeks to see how my thought will change.
