I’m still trying to understand those “prompts,” so I simply entered the song title “My Tractor Broke Down Again” and some keywords like “heartbreak,” “country life,” “small town.” You know, standard country stuff. And Boom! ChatGpt spat out a whole verse and chorus in like, two seconds. It wasn’t half bad, actually! It had lines about dusty roads, broken-down tractors, and lost love. Classic country gold, right?
From Words to Music
Next up: turning these words into actual music. I’m musically challenged. I can barely clap in time, let alone compose a song. So, I started Googling around for AI music generators. There’s a ton of them out there, and honestly, it was a bit overwhelming. A lot of them seemed geared towards electronic music, which wasn’t what I was going for.
I stumbled upon a site. It looked pretty straightforward. I pasted in the lyrics that ChatGpt had created, and then I had to pick a “style.” Of course, I went with “country.” Then, I hit the “generate” button and waited. It took a few minutes, which felt like forever. My first reaction? It was… interesting. The melody was definitely country-ish, and it kinda matched the lyrics. But it sounded like a robot cowboy was singing it. Super robotic voice.
So, I tinkered with it some more. I tried changing the tempo, messing with the instruments (more banjo, less… whatever that weird electronic sound was), and even tried a different “vocalist” option. It got a little better, but still not quite there.
