Need a New Running Watch? Garmin 265 or 265s Compared!

Okay, so I’ve been thinking about getting a new Garmin watch for a while. My old one was starting to show its age, and I really wanted something with the new AMOLED screen. I was totally torn between the Garmin 265 and the 265s. The big question for me was the size – would the regular 265 be too bulky on my wrist?

First, I hit up the internet. I read tons of reviews and watched a bunch of comparison videos. It seemed like most people loved the larger display of the 265, but some women and people with smaller wrists found it a bit overwhelming. That made me nervous.

Then, I decided to go to a local store that had both models in stock. This was the best thing I could have done! Seeing them in person made a huge difference. I tried on the 265s first. It felt really comfortable, and the screen, while smaller than the 265, still looked fantastic. It definitely seemed like a good fit.

Next, I put on the 265. Honestly, it wasn’t as huge as I’d feared. It was bigger, for sure, but it didn’t feel ridiculous on my wrist. I swiped through the menus, checked out the maps, and I have to admit, that larger screen was pretty sweet. It was just easier to see everything, especially when I imagined myself glancing at it during a run.

I spent a good 20 minutes just going back and forth between the two watches. Putting them on, taking them off, comparing the displays. The sales guy probably thought I was crazy! But I really wanted to make sure I was making the right choice.

My Decision

Ultimately, after much deliberation, I went with the regular Garmin 265. Even though the 265s was a bit more comfortable initially, I realized I really valued that larger screen real estate. I figured I’d get used to the slightly larger size, and the improved visibility during activities would be worth it. And I must say the color of 265 really caught my eyes.

  • Consideration 1: Wrist Size
  • Consideration 2: Screen Preference
  • Consideration 3: Display effect

So far, I’m happy with my decision. It took a day or two to adjust to the size, but now it feels perfectly normal. And that AMOLED screen? Gorgeous! I’m so glad I took the time to really compare them in person. That’s my biggest piece of advice if you’re on the fence – go see them for yourself!
