Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this privacy screen thing on my iPhone 13 for a while now, and I figured I’d share what I’ve learned. It’s not rocket science, but there are a few things that might trip you up.
First off, I grabbed a privacy screen protector online. There are tons of them out there, so I just picked one that had decent reviews and didn’t cost an arm and a leg. When it arrived, it was time to get down to business.
I started by cleaning my iPhone screen like a madman. You know, got rid of all the dust, fingerprints, and whatever else was on there. I used the little cloth and alcohol wipe that came with the protector. Gotta make sure that surface is spotless, otherwise, you’ll end up with bubbles and that just looks terrible.
- Wiped it down.
- Dried it off.
- Checked for any leftover dust bunnies.
Next, I carefully peeled off the backing from the privacy screen protector. This part was a little tricky, had to make sure I didn’t touch the sticky side too much. Then, very slowly, I aligned it with the top of my iPhone screen, making sure the cutouts for the speaker and camera lined up perfectly.
Once I had it in position, I gently pressed down in the center and watched as the protector started to adhere to the screen. I used a small squeegee thing (some kits include one) to smooth out any air bubbles, working from the center outwards. Took a bit of patience, but I managed to get most of them out.
Little Tweaks
There were a couple of stubborn bubbles that wouldn’t go away, so I carefully lifted the edge of the protector near the bubble and then smoothed it back down again. That did the trick for the most part. There might be a tiny bubble or two left, but you really have to look for them to notice.
And that’s pretty much it! Now, when I look at my phone from the side, the screen goes dark. It’s a pretty cool effect, and it definitely gives me some peace of mind when I’m using my phone in public. Anyone trying to sneak a peek at my screen is gonna have a hard time.
It was a simple enough procedure, nothing complicated. Just taking the time to put a privacy screen on my iPhone 13 made me confident that any person that might want to peek my screen won’t be able to.
