Okay, here’s my blog post about my experience with a “heavy duty master lock”:
So, I needed a serious lock. Like, a really serious lock. I’ve got this storage shed in my backyard, and, well, let’s just say the neighborhood squirrels aren’t the only critters I’m worried about getting into my stuff.
I’d been using a cheap padlock I picked up at the hardware store, but after seeing a neighbor’s shed get broken into, I knew I needed an upgrade. I started doing some digging, and the term “heavy duty master lock” kept popping up. I figured, “Master Lock, that’s a name I know, right?” They must know what they are doing.
The Search
My first Step go to hardware store. Man, there are a ton of locks out there. It’s overwhelming! Big ones, small ones, ones with weird keys, ones with combinations… It’s a lock jungle.
I finally found the “Master Lock” section, and started trying to figure out which one was “heavy duty” enough. I mean, they all looked pretty tough.
I ended up grabbing one, It is heavy. Like, noticeably heavier than my old one. And the shackle? Forget about it – that thing was thick. I felt like I could probably use it as a weapon if I needed to. (Just kidding… mostly.)
Putting It to the Test (Sort Of)
- Step 1: I took the lock off the packaging. That was surprisingly difficult, by the way. They really don’t want these things getting stolen off the shelf, I guess!
- Step 2: I fiddled with the key. It felt solid, not flimsy like some cheap locks. I like that.
- Step 3: I went out to my shed and slapped that bad boy on. Clicked it shut. Gave it a good yank. Thing didn’t budge.
Now, I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t actually try to break into my own shed with a crowbar or anything. I’m pretty confident this lock is gonna hold up to anything short of, like, a tank. My peace of mind? Definitely worth the few extra bucks.
It seems good for now.
The End.
