Okay, so, I was trying to get this thing working, you know, this “universal clip” thing. It was a real pain in the neck, let me tell you. I spent hours messing around with it. First, I went digging around for some code I could use. I found some snippets here and there, but nothing was really working right. They kept saying I needed to put this code into the head of my Blogger template. Sounded easy enough, right?
Wrong.
I copied and pasted the code, just like they said, into the template. Then I tried calling it into the post, following their instructions to the letter. It kinda worked, but not really. Like, it showed up fine on my desktop and even on my iPad. But on my phone? Nothing. It was like it just disappeared. I was pulling my hair out!
Then I stumbled upon some form, something about a tax exemption – “51A125 (8-17) Commonwealth of Kentucky DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE APPLICATION FOR PURCHASE EXEMPTION SALES AND USE TAX”. I have no idea what that had to do with anything, but I was desperate. I filled out the darn thing, thinking maybe it was some weird requirement. Nope, no dice. Still didn’t work on mobile.
Next, I was reading something about tracer tools for formulas, how they can help with auditing. I thought maybe there was some error in the code that these tracer things could spot. But, again, it was a dead end. These tools were for spreadsheets and stuff, totally unrelated to my problem.
I even ended up browsing some university course material – “Blogs 2B- 2BHow 2Bto”, something about being a professional teacher (BPT1501) at the University of Venda. I was so lost, I was looking for answers in student documents! There were, like, 57 of them, all shared by students in the course.
- Copied and pasted the code into the head of my Blogger template.
- Tried calling the code into the post as instructed.
- Filled out a sales and use tax exemption form, for some reason.
- Looked into formula auditing tools, hoping they would help.
- Scoured university course documents for any clues.
In the end, after hours of frustration, I got it to work. And you know what? I still dont’s know how exactly I did it. But I was clicking and editing and suddenly, bam. It did what I want. I guess I’ll never know exactly what I did, but hey, it’s working now, and that’s all that matters. So, yeah, that’s my story about wrangling with this “universal clip” thing. It was a wild ride, but I made it through.
The result
So now, the universal clip thingy works everywhere, on computers, tablets, and even on those tiny phone screens. It was a lot of trial and error, and a good dose of luck, I guess. But I learned a lot, even if it was mostly about what not to do. And that’s my story.
