Okay, so I wanted to figure out how many watts my phone charger is. I’ve heard people talking about it, and I was curious, you know? So, I started looking into it.
First, I grabbed my phone charger and checked the small print on the back. You know, it’s always so tiny and hard to read! I saw some numbers there, like the input and output voltage and amperage. This charger says it has an output of 5V and 2A.
Next, I did a quick search online to find out how to calculate watts from volts and amps. There’s lots of stuff about it, but basically, you just multiply the two numbers together. It’s pretty straightforward.
- Step 1: Find the voltage (V).
- Step 2: Find the amperage (A).
- Step 3: Multiply them together (V x A = W).
So, for my charger, it’s 5 volts times 2 amps, which equals 10 watts. Easy peasy!
I also found out that some chargers have higher wattage, like 15W, 18W, or even more. Those are probably the “fast chargers” I’ve heard about. They can charge your phone much quicker. Who wouldn’t want a faster charge?
Then I got to thinking, what about other chargers? I have a bunch lying around from old phones. So, I grabbed a few and checked their output ratings too.
Turns out, they’re all different! Some are lower, like 5W, and some are higher. It’s pretty interesting to see the variety.
My Findings
It looks like most of my standard chargers are around 5W to 10W. It’s not a huge difference, but it’s there. And yeah, the fast chargers are definitely higher, I tested one that was 18 watts.
So, that’s what I found out about phone charger wattage. It was a fun little experiment, and now I know a bit more about the chargers I use every day. Maybe this will help you figure out your charger’s wattage too!
If you are wondering how much wattage your phone charger is, just do the same as I told you! Very easy!
