Need to Remove Plex Server from Account? Follow These Instructions

Okay, here is my sharing about how to remove a Plex server from my account:

So, I had this old Plex server that I wasn’t using anymore. It was just sitting there, taking up space in my authorized devices list. I figured it was time to clean things up a bit and get rid of it. I did some research, but they are either too simple or too complicated. After I tried many times, I finally figure it out.

First, I opened up the Plex web app in my browser. I could have reinstalled the app on my phone, but the browser was just easier at the moment. Once I was in, I went straight to the Settings.

Next, I found the “Authorized Devices” section. This is where all the devices connected to my Plex account are listed. Now, finding the right thing to click was a bit of a pain. The interface isn’t the most intuitive, I gotta say. I poked around a bit and finally found a dropdown menu, I changed the filter to “Server”. There it was, my old server, listed among the other devices. There was this little “X” next to it. I hovered over the “X” and clicked it without a second thought. But a prompt appeared asking me to confirm, of course, I confirmed it.

After that, the old server was gone from my authorized devices list. Just like that. It felt good to finally remove it. Now, I should mention that if you want to completely uninstall the Plex Media Server software from your computer or NAS, that’s a whole other process. You’d have to go into your system’s settings and uninstall it like any other program. For a NAS, you might just need to uninstall the software, no need to factory reset the whole thing, simple enough. But, my main goal was just to remove it from my account, so I didn’t bother with all that.

One thing to note, though, is that sometimes these “dead” servers can still show up in your list even after you’ve removed them. It’s a weird quirk. If that happens, you might have to do some extra digging to fully get rid of them. But for the most part, this method worked for me. I hope this sharing can help you guys!
