Okay, so I had this old box of VHS tapes gathering dust in the attic. You know, the ones with all the family memories – birthdays, vacations, embarrassing dance recitals. I really wanted to preserve them before they completely deteriorated, so I decided to look into getting them converted to DVDs.
I’d heard Costco offered a video transfer service, so I figured I’d give them a shot. First, I gathered all my tapes and made sure they were labeled. I didn’t want any mix-ups!
Costco Time
I Packed everything up and headed to my local Costco. I found the photo center and talked to the person at the counter.
They use an external service, you can’t miss the information board there.
After I asked how it worked. they gave me a form to fill out – pretty basic stuff, like my contact information and how many tapes I had. They also explained the pricing. It’s not super cheap, but it is fair for the peace of mind.
Wait and Pick Up
They told me it would take a few weeks, which was fine. So, I handed over my precious memories and hoped for the best! After around three weeks, I got a call saying my order was ready. Went back to Costco, picked up my DVDs, and that was it.
I popped a DVD into my player as soon as I got home. The quality wasn’t perfect, of course, but way better than the old tapes. Honestly, it was so worth it to have these memories in a format that’s easier to watch and share. Plus, I’m not worried about the tapes degrading anymore.
