Okay, so I’ve always wanted to make my own video game, specifically, a customized set of them. It seemed like a huge undertaking, but I finally decided to just go for it. I started by brainstorming what kind of game environment I wanted.
I’m a big fan of fantasy, so I knew it had to have some magical elements. I pictured lush forests, mysterious caves, and maybe even some flying creatures. I jotted down all my crazy ideas, no matter how wild they seemed. This was my world, after all!
Getting Started with the Basics
Next, I needed some software. I had messed around with some free game engines before, but this time I wanted something more powerful. I did some research.I also tried to play some games.
Once I had the engine installed, I started with the terrain. I sculpted mountains, carved out rivers, and basically played digital god for a few hours. It was surprisingly relaxing, just shaping the landscape.
Populating My World
Then came the fun part – adding stuff to my world! I started simple, with trees and rocks. Then I found some free models of fantasy creatures online. I added some glowing mushrooms and strange plants to the caves. This is where it really started to feel like a real game environment.
- Trees: Started with basic pine trees, then added some weirder, twisted ones for variety.
- Creatures: Found some awesome free models of goblins and dragons.
- Caves: Made them dark and spooky, with glowing crystals and underground streams.
Adding Some Magic
No fantasy world is complete without magic, right? I used the game engine’s particle system to create some cool effects. I made glowing orbs, shimmering portals, and even some magical fireflies. This was definitely the most challenging part, but also the most rewarding. Seeing those magical effects come to life was amazing.
Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3
Of course, I had to test everything as I went. I spent a lot of time just running around my world, making sure everything looked right and there were no weird glitches. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. And that’s what matters.
I’m still improving it,It felt pretty darn good to finally create a game set of my own.
