So, the other day, I wanted to watch something on Paramount Plus during my commute. Figured I’d download a couple of episodes of that new show everyone’s been talking about. But guess what? The downloads just wouldn’t work. It was hella annoying. I’d tap the download button, the little circle would spin for a bit, and then bam! Nothing. Or sometimes it would start downloading but get stuck at, like, 2%.
First thing I did, obviously, was to check my internet connection. Maybe the Wi-Fi at home was being wonky. Nope, everything else was working fine. I could stream videos on YouTube, no problem. So, it wasn’t the internet.
Then I thought, maybe the app was just glitching out. I tried restarting the Paramount Plus app. Closed it completely, swiped it away, and then opened it back up. Tried downloading again. Still nothing. I tried to restart it more than 3 times, but it seemed useless. What a bummer!
- I even tried restarting my whole damn phone. You know, the classic turn it off and on again.
- Waited for a few minutes after I restarted my phone.
- Power up my phone.
Nope, still no downloads. Now, I remember someone told me that it might be the router issue. So I went to my router and restarted it again and again.
- I unplugged the router.
- I waited for a few minutes just to make sure it re-powered.
- And I plugged it back in.
It seemed the downloading function still not working. I was getting pretty frustrated at this point. I mean, I pay for this service, and I couldn’t even download stuff to watch offline? Come on!
Then it hit me, maybe it was an issue with my device. I was using an older phone model. So, I grabbed my wife’s phone, which is newer, and installed the Paramount Plus app on it. Logged in with my account, and tried downloading.
And guess what? It worked!
The episodes started downloading instantly on her phone. So, it seems like the problem was with my old phone all along. Maybe it wasn’t compatible with the latest version of the app or something. I don’t know, I’m not a tech expert. Anyway, I ended up just watching the show on my wife’s phone during my commute. Problem solved, I guess. But it’s still annoying that I couldn’t get it to work on my own phone. I should consider get a new phone.
