Okay, here’s my blog post about troubleshooting the Paramount Plus app on my Fire TV:
So, the other night, I wanted to kick back and watch some show on Paramount Plus. I grabbed my Fire TV remote, navigated to the app, and… nothing. Just a black screen. Or sometimes it would start to load, then just crash back to the Fire TV home screen. Super frustrating!
My first thought was, “Okay, maybe the app just needs a little nudge.” So, I did the classic, restart. You know, go to the Fire TV settings, find the “My Fire TV” section, and hit “Restart”.
I waited for it to reboot, tried the Paramount Plus app again, and… still nothing. Ugh.
Clearing the Cache and Data
Next step, I figured maybe there was some gunk built up in the app itself. I went back into the Fire TV settings, but this time I went to “Applications,” then “Manage Installed Applications.” I scrolled down to Paramount Plus, and there were options for “Clear Cache” and “Clear Data.”
I started with “Clear Cache” – that’s usually the less drastic option. Tried the app again. Still no luck.
Okay, time for the bigger guns. I went back and hit “Clear Data”. Be warned, this will log you out of the app, so you’ll need your username and password handy.
- I Cleared Data.
- I Re-entered my login details.
I crossed my fingers, relaunched Paramount Plus, and… nope. Still broken. I was starting to get seriously annoyed at this point.
Uninstall/Reinstall and The Last Tries
I figured, maybe the app installation itself was corrupted. I uninstalled the Paramount Plus app. I went back to the Fire TV home screen, searched for Paramount Plus, and reinstalled it.
The download and install, Relaunched, logged in, I press to open the app, and nothing.
I decided to unplug the Fire TV, I waited a minute or two, and re-plugged.
The same bad news, so, I restarted my internet router, you never know. Wait for my network come back, I try Paramount Plus, and… Finally! It worked!
I have to say, it might have been a combination of all of these things, in order, I am not pretty sure what of all really worked, but maybe the internet restart, the app reinstall, or simply all of it.
So, if you’re having trouble with the Paramount Plus app on your Fire TV, try these steps. Hopefully, you’ll have better luck than I did (at least at first)!
