Alright, so I wanted to figure out if my Blink cameras could work with my Ring system. I’ve got both, and it seemed like a pain to juggle two separate apps for my home security.
First, I grabbed my phone and opened up both the Blink and Ring apps. Just kinda poked around in the settings, you know? Didn’t see anything obvious about connecting the two.
Then, I hit up Google. Just typed in something simple like “do blink cameras work with ring”. I scrolled through a bunch of articles and forum posts. Most of what I found said the same thing – they’re not directly compatible. Bummer.
Apparently, Blink and Ring are both owned by Amazon, but they’re still separate systems. Makes no sense, right?
I did learn that you can kinda sorta connect them through Alexa. Like, you can use Alexa to view your Blink camera feeds on an Echo Show or something. But that’s not really what I was looking for. I wanted everything in one app, the Ring app, nice and tidy.
I even tried to do that Alexa skill, you know I always keep my Alexa updated,
First, you need an Alexa device with a screen, like an Echo Show or Fire TV.
Then, you have to enable the Blink SmartHome skill in the Alexa app.
After that, you link your Blink account to your Amazon account.
Once you’ve done all that, you can use voice commands like, “Alexa, show me the front door camera” to view your Blink camera feeds.
So, to sum it up, I discovered that Blink and Ring cameras don’t natively work together in the Ring app. You can get some limited functionality through Alexa, but it’s not a full integration. Guess I’m stuck with two apps for now.
