Okay, so the other day I needed to get some photos off my SD card from my camera. Usually, I just plug the camera straight into my computer, but this time the cable was missing. I remembered I had bought an SD card reader a while back, so I started digging through my drawer of tech stuff.
Found it! It was one of those small, simple ones – nothing fancy. Just a little dongle with an SD card slot on one end and a USB plug on the other. I plugged the SD card into the reader, making sure it clicked in nicely.
Next, I plugged the reader into a free USB port on my computer. My computer made that little “ding” sound to let me know it recognized something, which is always a good sign.
Then a little window popped up on my screen automatically. It showed the contents of the SD card, just like a regular folder. I opened the folder, found the photos. The name of the folder is DCIM.
- I opened the DCIM.
- I selected the photoes I needed.
- Dragged and dropped them to another file of my computer.
Once I had copied all the photos I needed, I made sure to “safely remove” the card reader. You know, by clicking that little icon in the system tray and selecting “Eject.” Gotta be careful not to corrupt anything!
And that’s it! Seriously, it was way easier than I thought it would be. I’m so glad I had that little card reader. It saved me a ton of hassle. I can removed my photos, video, music, and other files from my sd card to computer.
