Okay, so I’ve been using these Kasa smart plugs and bulbs for a while now, and they’re pretty neat. But I ran into a situation where I wanted my partner to control some of the lights too, without having to log into my Kasa account. Made sense, right? We live together! So I needed to figure out how to share access to my Kasa devices.
Digging into the App
First, I opened up the Kasa app on my phone. I poked around in the settings, you know, the usual gear icon. I figured there’d be something obvious like “Share Device” or “Add User” – but nope, nothing jumped out at me.
Family Feature!
I was tapping on this and that in * click the “Me”buttom,I finally found it,I saw a “Family”option,That was it!
Here is how I did:
- Open the Kasa Smart app.
- Tap on ‘Me’ at the bottom.
- Select ‘Family’.
- Tap ‘+’ to add a family.
- Select the ‘Home’ tab.
- Choose the family you just created.
- Tap ‘Add Member’ in the family.
- Enter the email address of the account, choose the devices you want to share.
- Tap ‘Send Invitation’.
Then, I tapped ‘Send Invitation’.My partener received a invitation, and he accepted it.
It Worked!
After my partner accepted the invitation,I Checked *! He could control the lights I’d shared. No more yelling across the room to turn off the kitchen lights! It was such a simple thing, but it made things so much smoother.
So, yeah, that’s how I figured out sharing Kasa devices. A little bit of digging around, but totally worth it in the end. Hope this helps someone else out there!
