Okay, here’s my blog post about making a Father’s Day gift “from the bump”:
So, Father’s Day was coming up, and I wanted to do something special for my husband, something that was like, from the baby, even though he/she isn’t even here yet. You know, a little “from the bump” action. I started by looking for the idea, it is must be a meaningful gift.
Brainstorming and Getting Started
I brainstormed a bunch of ideas. I figured something handmade would be way more meaningful than just buying another tie or something,It is not the style of the gift my husband liked. I wanted it to be personal, and, honestly, I was on a bit of a budget.
- First, I thought about a photo album, but that felt kinda…basic.
- Then, I considered making a “coupons for dad” book, you know, like “one free diaper change” or “sleep in ’til noon” – cheesy, but cute.
- Finally I have an idea, I decided to combine the photo with handmake something.
The DIY Project: A “Daddy & Me” Frame
I decided to go with a custom picture frame. I picked up a plain wooden frame from the craft store – super cheap, like five bucks. Then I grabbed some acrylic paints, a few brushes, and some letter stencils. My plan was to paint the frame and put a cute message on it, along with a picture of my ultrasound.
I started by painting the frame a nice, neutral gray. I’m not the best painter, so I kept it simple. Two coats, let it dry completely. Then, using the stencils, I carefully painted “Daddy & Me” along the top. My hand was a little shaky, but I took my time, and it actually turned out pretty good! I added a little heart at the end, just for extra sweetness.
Adding the Finishing Touches
Once the paint was completely dry (I learned that the hard way – smudges are NOT cute), I printed out one of our ultrasound pictures. It was the one where you could kinda see the baby’s little profile. I carefully placed the picture in the frame, making sure it was centered and looked good.
Finally, I decided to write small note on the back, I wrote the baby’s expected due date. It is sweet and I like it!
The Big Reveal!
On Father’s Day, I gave the frame to my husband after breakfast. He totally teared up! He loved that it was handmade, and he thought the ultrasound picture was the perfect touch. He kept saying how much it meant to him, and that it was the best Father’s Day gift ever, even though he’s not technically a dad yet. Success!
It was a pretty simple project, really, but it felt so good to make something with my own hands. Plus, it was a great way to celebrate this special time and make my husband feel loved and appreciated. Totally recommend this for any expecting mamas out there!
