Okay, so today I wanna talk about the buffering issues I’ve been having with fuboTV. It’s been driving me nuts! I finally decided to get to the bottom of it, and I think I’ve figured some things out.
First off, I checked my internet speed. You know, the usual drill. I used one of those online speed test websites, it tells you your download speed, upload speed, and ping. Turns out, my internet was fine. I was getting the speeds I’m paying for, so that wasn’t the problem.
Next, I restarted my router and modem. Unplugged them both, waited about 30 seconds, and plugged them back in. I know, I know, it’s the classic IT move, but sometimes it actually works! This did seem to help a little, but the buffering was still happening.
Then, I thought maybe it was my device. I was watching fubo on my smart TV, so I tried it on my phone and my laptop. Same problem on all three. Ugh. So it wasn’t the device either.
I also checked for any software updates on my devices and the fuboTV app. Everything was up to date. Good, but still not the solution.
Getting a Bit Deeper
- I started messing with the streaming quality settings in the fuboTV app. Lowered it from “Auto” to 720p and even 480p. This did reduce the buffering, but the picture quality was kinda crappy. Not ideal.
- I also tried clearing the cache and data for the fuboTV app on my TV. Seemed to help a tiny bit, but not a complete fix.
At this point, I was getting pretty frustrated. I even considered switching streaming services. But before I did that, I decided to try one last thing: a wired connection.
I connected my TV directly to my router using an Ethernet cable. And guess what? It worked! Almost no buffering at all. Even on the highest quality setting. I tried it on my laptop too with an Ethernet cable – same result.
So, it seems like the issue was with my Wi-Fi network. Even though my internet speed was good, maybe there was some interference or something causing problems with the fuboTV stream. I had to install a powerline Ethernet adapter for my smart TV, as they are far away from each other. Once I plugged one in by my router and the other behind my TV and connected them, the buffering stopped. It may seem weird because I could stream from other platforms, but whatever, it worked!
It is working now, so I’m happy. Hopefully, this helps someone else out there who’s pulling their hair out over fubo buffering!
