Okay, so today I decided to tackle the TD-340 1/16 project. I’ve had this thing sitting in my garage for, like, forever, and figured it was time to actually do something with it.
First things first, I needed to gather all the parts. I’m pretty sure I bought this thing at a swap meet, so who knows if everything was even there. I dumped the box out on my workbench, and it was a glorious mess of plastic and metal. I spent a good hour just sorting through everything, trying to match pieces to the (very faded) instruction sheet. Some parts were easy to identify, others… not so much.
After the sorting, I started on the main body assembly. This was pretty straightforward. Mostly just snapping pieces together, with a few screws here and there. The plastic was a little brittle in places – I guess that’s what happens when something sits in a hot garage for years. I had to be extra careful not to break anything. I may or may not have used some super glue in a couple of spots where things didn’t quite want to stay together. Don’t judge.
- Checked part A to Z
- Found some broken part, using glue fixed it.
- Re-check the instructions again and again.
The next challenge, It’s the wheels part. It’s quite a bit of work to put all parts together, but, lucky me, I did it.
And, boom! I had a, more-or-less, complete TD-340 1/16! It’s not perfect, but it’s done. I’m actually pretty proud of myself for finally getting this thing built. Now I just need to figure out where to display it…
