So, a few days ago I got this idea stuck in my head. It was about the phrase “I would never.” It’s something we hear all the time, right? People say it about all sorts of things: “I would never eat that,” “I would never go there,” “I would never do that.” I started thinking, what if I made a song about all these things?
I grabbed my notebook and started jotting down phrases. Anything that came to mind, really. It was a mess at first, just a bunch of random “I would never” statements. Like, “I would never wear socks with sandals.” Yeah, I know, it’s a fashion crime. “I would never get a tattoo.” That’s a personal choice, of course. The list went on and on. It was fun, actually, just letting my brain go wild.
Then, I started playing around with my guitar. I wanted something catchy, something that would stick in people’s heads. I tried a few different chord progressions, but nothing felt quite right. I kept at it, though. Played and played until my fingers were sore. Finally, I stumbled upon a melody that I liked. It was simple, but it had a good groove. I recorded a rough version on my phone, just to get the idea down.
Next, I went back to my list of “I would never” statements. I started organizing them, trying to find some kind of structure. I realized that I could group some of them together. Like, there were a few about food, a few about travel, and a few about personal choices. It was starting to look like a song!
I spent the next few days refining the lyrics and the melody. I added a bridge, a chorus, and even a little guitar solo. I sang it over and over again, making small changes here and there. It was a slow process, but I was enjoying it.
Finally, I decided it was time to record a proper demo. I set up my microphone, opened my recording software, and got to work. I laid down the guitar track first, then the vocals. It wasn’t perfect, but it was good enough to share with a few friends.
- Recorded the guitar track.
- Recorded the vocals.
- Mixed the tracks together.
- Listened to the demo a hundred times.
I sent the demo to a couple of my music buddies. I was nervous, to be honest. I wasn’t sure what they would think. But their feedback was positive! They liked the song, they said it was catchy and funny. That was all I needed to hear. I was happy, I had a new original song. I decided to record it on a real studio next month. That’s all for today, peace!
