Okay, so I finally got my hands on the ThinkBook 16 2024. I’ve been eyeing this laptop for a while, so I was pretty stoked to unbox it and see what it’s all about.
Unboxing and First Impressions
First thing’s first, the unboxing. Pretty standard stuff – laptop, charger, some paperwork. The laptop itself, though, feels really solid. I picked it up, and it’s got a nice weight to it, not too heavy, but it definitely doesn’t feel cheap. The aluminum chassis is smooth, and I dig the two-tone design on the lid. It’s a clean, professional look.
Setting Things Up
Booting it up for the first time was quick. The Windows setup process is always a bit of a drag, but it went smoothly. I connected to my Wi-Fi, logged into my Microsoft account, and got everything configured to my liking. One of the first things I always do is uninstall any bloatware, and thankfully, there wasn’t a ton of it pre-installed.
Playing Around with It
Once I got everything set up, I started messing around. Here’s a rough breakdown of what I did:
- Browsing the Web: Opened up a bunch of Chrome tabs – you know, YouTube, some news sites, my usual online haunts. No lag, everything loaded super fast.
- Streaming Video: Watched a couple of episodes of a show on Netflix. The display is crisp and vibrant, and the speakers are surprisingly decent.
- Light Gaming: I’m not a hardcore gamer, but I fired up a few less-demanding titles. Everything ran smoothly, no noticeable frame drops or anything.
- Testing the Keyboard and Trackpad: The keyboard feels great to type on. The keys have good travel, and they’re not too loud. The trackpad is responsive and accurate. I’m picky about trackpads, and this one passes the test.
- Battery Check: Did not test too much, but after a few hours of mixed-use, it holds pretty good.
My Thoughts So Far
Honestly, I’m impressed. It’s a snappy machine that handles everyday tasks with ease. The build quality is top-notch, and the design is sleek. It’s not the flashiest laptop out there, but it’s got a subtle, professional vibe that I appreciate. I think it’s got solid performace, and a good choice if you are not looking for fancy laptops.
I’ll keep using it as my daily driver and see how it holds up over time. I’ll check on the battery more, but it’s looking good for now.
