Okay, so, I just got this TicWatch Pro 5, you know, the one with that Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chip and the Wear OS 3.5. It’s supposed to have, like, 80 hours of battery life, which is pretty sweet. I snagged it from AliExpress about a week ago, and I was pretty excited to get it set up and going.
The box it came in was nice, all neat and tidy, just the watch, a USB charging cable, and a manual. Nothing too fancy. Oh, and the cable is one of those proprietary ones, so don’t lose it!
Anyway, I was thinking about swapping out the band because, you know, I like to customize my stuff. I had some old 24mm straps from a Sunnto 9 lying around. I figured, “Hey, these should fit, right?” Turns out, the straps were the correct size. But, you know, I hit a snag. The link pins on these straps were just a hair too thick – 1.8mm diameter.
- Short side of original band: 9.6cm/3.78inches
- Original strap width: 24mm
I did a bit of digging, and it seems like the TicWatch Pro 5 is cool with most 24mm bands. That’s good news! But those pins, man, they were a real pain. I couldn’t for the life of me get them to fit into the watch.
A little tip
If you’re getting this watch, and you plan on changing the band, just make sure you have pins that are thin enough. The watch is great, but don’t get soap, detergent, or seawater on it. And no scuba diving, either. Apparently, the original band is not suitable for those, and I guess other bands are too.
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure with the TicWatch Pro 5 band size. Hopefully, this helps someone out there avoid the same headache I went through. Just make sure your band pins are the right size!
