Okay, so I had this old Triton trailer, and some of the parts were getting pretty worn out. I figured, “Time to roll up my sleeves and get this thing fixed up!” I needed to find some replacement parts, specifically for a Triton trailer. It’s not like walking into your local auto parts store, you know?
Finding the Right Parts
First, I figured out exactly what I needed. A couple of the lights were busted, the wiring harness looked like a rat’s nest, and one of the fenders was seriously dented. I made a list – tail lights, a new wiring harness, and a fender. I also make a note about my trailer’s model number, and year.
Then, I tried to find some local dealers who carry the parts, unfortunately, most stores that carry trailer parts don’t have the parts that my Triton trailer needs.
Getting Down to Business
So I took another way. I tried to find some distributors or manufacturers, and contact them directly! After I filled out the required information, I waited for their reply.
After a while, I received a reply from a distributor, and he told me to provide a series of number codes, like serial numbers or something, for the purpose of matching my trailer’s model and year.
Once the parts arrived, it was time to get to work. I started with the lights – pretty straightforward, just unscrewing the old ones and popping the new ones in. The wiring harness was a bit trickier. I laid it all out, matched up the wires (thank goodness for color-coding!), and crimped everything together.
Finally, the fender. This was the biggest pain. I had to drill out some old rivets, bolt the new fender on, and then use some sealant to make sure it was watertight. It took some muscle, but I got it done!
The End Result
After a full day of work, the trailer was looking good as new! All the lights worked, the wiring was tidy, and the new fender made a huge difference. I’m pretty proud of myself for tackling this project. It saved me a ton of money compared to taking it to a shop, and I learned a few things along the way. Now, I’m ready to hit the road with my trusty trailer, knowing it’s in tip-top shape!
