Okay, so the other day, I was trying to text while holding my coffee, and it hit me – I need to figure out how to use my phone with one hand. My phone’s a bit on the bigger side, an iPhone 15, and I’ve got SwiftKey as my keyboard. So, I did a bit of digging and found out how to switch to one-handed mode. Wanna know how I did it? Here’s the lowdown:
Getting Started
First off, I opened up my Messages app. I mean, you gotta start somewhere, right? Then, while I was looking at the keyboard, I spotted the emoji icon at the bottom left. It’s a smiley face, can’t miss it. On some keyboards, it might be a globe icon instead.
Making the Switch
So, I pressed and held that emoji icon. A little menu popped up, and boom! There were these keyboard position icons – left, center, and right. I thought, “This is it!”
- Left: If I wanted the keyboard on the left side.
- Center: The regular, full-sized keyboard.
- Right: To slide the keyboard over to the right.
Choosing My Side
Since I’m right-handed, I tapped the icon that showed the keyboard on the right side. And just like that, the keyboard shrunk and moved to the right. It was so much easier to reach all the keys with my thumb!
Switching Back
When I was done with the one-handed mode, I just pressed and held the emoji icon again and tapped the center keyboard icon. It went right back to normal. Easy peasy!
Why It’s a Game Changer
Honestly, this one-handed keyboard thing is a lifesaver. I can text while walking the dog, holding groceries, or just chilling on the couch. Plus, it’s super easy to switch back and forth.
So yeah, that’s how I figured out the one-handed keyboard mode on SwiftKey for my iPhone. It might seem like a small thing, but trust me, it makes a big difference. Give it a try, and you’ll see what I mean!
