Why Am I Not Getting Blink Notifications on My iPhone? (Troubleshooting Guide)

Okay, so, I’ve been having this annoying issue with my Blink security cameras lately where I just wasn’t getting any notifications on my iPhone. It was driving me nuts because, you know, the whole point of having these cameras is to get alerted when something’s happening, right?

So, I started digging around, trying to figure out what was going on. First, I opened up the Blink app itself. I tapped on that little gear icon at the bottom of the screen to get into the settings. Then, I went into “Notification Options”. I checked and made sure that “Show notifications” was toggled on. I also made sure that my alerts were set for both sound and vibration, just to be extra sure I wouldn’t miss anything.

Next, I tapped on “Notification categories” within the app. I double-checked that all the alerts I wanted to receive were toggled on there, too. Everything looked good in the app, so I was a bit puzzled.

Then, I thought, maybe it’s an iPhone issue. I went into my iPhone’s settings and then into “Notifications”. I scrolled down until I found “Blink” in the list of apps. I tapped on that and, bingo! “Allow Notifications” was switched off. No wonder I wasn’t getting anything! I turned that on right away.

After I did all that, I wanted to make sure it worked, so I did a little test. I walked in front of one of my cameras, and sure enough, a few seconds later, I got a notification on my phone! Finally, problem solved. That must be my iPhone block the notification. Maybe I did this operation before. I hope you guys check the settings both in-app and your iPhone. I don’t try to restart my iPhone, but it mentioned on the internet. If you did what I did, maybe you can try to restart it.

Oh, one more thing I learned while I was troubleshooting. Apparently, your phone needs to be online for apps to get alerts. So, if your Wi-Fi is spotty or your cellular data is off, that could also be a reason why you’re not getting notifications. And, making sure that your iPhone not in “Do Not Disturb” mode. That mode will turn off all the notifications. Keep your “Focus” mode off is also necessary.

  • Check Blink App Settings:
    • Open the Blink app.
    • Tap the settings gear icon.
    • Go to “Notification Options”.
    • Make sure “Show notifications” is on.
    • Set alerts for sound and vibration.
    • Check “Notification categories” and ensure desired alerts are on.
  • Check iPhone Settings:
    • Go to iPhone Settings.
    • Tap “Notifications”.
    • Find “Blink” in the app list.
    • Ensure “Allow Notifications” is enabled.
  • Other Potential Issues:
    • Make sure your iPhone is online (Wi-Fi or cellular data).
    • Ensure “Do Not Disturb” mode is off.
    • Keep “Focus” mode off.
    • Restarting your iPhone (optional).

It was such a simple fix, but it made a huge difference. Now I feel much better knowing that I’ll actually get notified if anything happens. I hope this helps anyone else who might be having the same problem!
