Okay, so, I got this new Pixel 8, right? Hyped up, latest tech, the whole shebang. But man, the GPS on this thing has been a real pain in the neck. Seriously, it’s like the phone has no clue where it is half the time.
I started noticing it when I was driving around town. I fired up Google Maps, you know, like you do, and it was all over the place. One minute I’m on Main Street, the next I’m apparently chilling in some random alley. Not cool when you’re trying to get somewhere.
I thought, okay, maybe it’s just a one-time glitch. But no, it kept happening. I tried restarting the phone, you know, the classic “turn it off and on again” move. Didn’t help. Then I checked if the GPS was actually turned on. Of course, it was. I mean, I’m not a total tech newbie.
So, I started digging around online. Turns out, I’m not the only one with this problem. Lots of folks with Pixel 8s are complaining about wonky GPS. Some said it’s because of bad satellite signals or interference. Like, if you’re in a city with tall buildings or something, the GPS gets confused. Makes sense, I guess, but still, my old phone handled it way better.
I even tried using the GPS in different places. Out in the open, under a clear sky, it worked a bit better, but not great. And who wants to only use GPS when there are no buildings around? That’s just not practical.
Honestly, I am pretty bummed. I expected more from a flagship phone. The GPS should just work, you know? It’s a basic feature. I’m still hoping it’s a software issue that can be fixed with an update. But for now, I’m stuck with a phone that can’t even navigate properly.
- Tried restarting the phone – no luck.
- Checked GPS settings – all good.
- Read online forums – seems like a common issue.
- Tested in different locations – slightly better in open areas, but still unreliable.
It’s a real letdown, man. You pay a premium for a device like this, and you expect it to perform. Hopefully, Google gets their act together and fixes this soon, because right now, this Pixel 8 is looking more like a lemon to me.
