Okay, so today I tried to tackle the NYT Mini crossword, and let me tell you, it was a humbling experience. I wouldn’t say I’m a pro at crosswords, but I can usually finish the Mini without too much trouble. Today, though? Not so much.
The Start
I started like I always do, scanning for the easy clues. You know, the fill-in-the-blanks or the super obvious ones. I managed to get a couple of those down, feeling pretty good about myself.
- “___ of the cost”: This one was easy, I filled in “Part” pretty fast.
- I don’t remeber the exact clue, but I also got “ERA” pretty quick at the beginning.
Getting Stuck
Then, I hit a wall. I mean, a big, thick wall. I stared at the clues, read them over and over, and my brain just went * felt like my vocabulary had suddenly shrunk to about ten words, none of which fit. I tried different combinations, guessing at letters, hoping something would magically click, but not get all answers filled!
The (Partial) Victory
Finally, after what felt like an eternity , I can not get it done. There are still some blanks, but I think it’s time to give * tomorrow’s puzzle will be kinder to my brain!
