Okay, so today I wanted to get on YouTube, but guess what? It was blocked! I don’t know why, but I needed to check out some videos. So, I rolled up my sleeves and got to work.
Figuring It Out
First, I tried the usual stuff. You know, clearing the browser cache, restarting my router, the basic troubleshooting steps. But nope, YouTube was still a no-go. This made me scratch my head a bit, because why would it be blocked all of a sudden?
Then I remembered that sometimes websites get blocked because of network settings or something like that. So, I started digging into my computer’s network configurations. I checked the DNS settings, the proxy settings, everything that seemed related.
Trying Different Things
- Checking DNS: I thought maybe changing the DNS server could help. So, I switched to a public DNS like Google’s, which is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. I applied the settings and tried YouTube again. Still blocked.
- Messing with Proxy: Next, I looked at the proxy settings. I figured if there was a proxy configured, it might be causing the issue. But there wasn’t any proxy set up. I even tried setting up a free proxy just to see, but that didn’t work either.
- Restarting everything: After each change, I made sure to restart my browser and even my computer a couple of times. I know it sounds simple, but sometimes that’s all it takes. But in this case, it didn’t do the trick.
Finally Got it
After a bit more digging around, I found out that there was this setting in my router that was blocking certain websites, and YouTube was on the list. I have no idea how that got changed, but anyway, I went into the router settings and found the “Blocked Websites” section. There it was, YouTube, just sitting on the list. I removed it from the list, saved the settings, and restarted the router one more time.
I opened my browser, typed in the YouTube address, and bam! It loaded right up. I felt pretty good about figuring it out, even though it took a little while. And there I was enjoying YouTube once again.
Sometimes you just have to follow the trail to solve these tech mysteries. I hope my story helps someone out there who might be facing the same problem.
